Default What reasons discourage your spouse from allowing more tanks?

Hey gang.

Just figured that I would try and start a constructive thread about this.

I've seen many people post about not being "allowed" to setup more tanks for fish than theu woukd based off of the disapproval of their spouse....

What are your spouses reasons and how do you feel about them? Are they valid reasons or do you feel that its possible to setup more tanks comfortably?

Feel free to discuss, vent a little and also brainstorm with everyone if youd like.

Please absolutle no mocking or cheap shots at ones situation. This thread was started to form an understanding of others and possibly ones own situation.

Andrew C.

With my record, I would have a hard time getting permission to get more than one. I'm pretty clumsy. Not married yet, but even my girlfriend tries to limit my spending on fish and we don't even live together. I'm enjoying as much as I can, but I've already told her if we get married I want at least 5 big tanks.

Thanks for sharing that... I think that its a good idea to be up front and honest. So good for you sir!
Honesty is key in any good relationship! Discussions about reasoning and compromise seems to have helped in my home too.

My wife takes pride in our house. She likes a show tank if it adds to the beauty of the overall decoration. However, hoarding fish tanks and fish inside her house is not going to cut it.

My wife has no problems with me adding more tanks. As long as I can fit the bill on buying them and running them as far as utilities rising because of tanks. I just bought a 105g tank and stand a month ago and she likes it soo much, she foot the bill for all the equipment, substrate, and we just placed an order with Greg today for some Kasangas!! Doesn't get any better than a woman that supports hobbies! 4 Tanks currently and now searching locally for an 8 footer..

My wife says only one tank and it has to look good...I brought up the idea of a show tank in the house and maybe a "couple" more in the garage. I get the look...

So, only one tank... But there are so many fishes... Damn...LOL!

My wife really doesn't care...she let me have a room in the basement for my tanks, at 1 time I was breeding and raising Peacock Cichlids...I had 30 tanks at 1 time...I scaled back because it was to much work..i'm thinking about breeding and selling my Trophs since they are a bit hard to find here locally...
