Default 180 foai and cyp micro setup

Here's my 180 that used to house my longola. The fish were showing off, and I just took the vid with my iphone, so it's not the best quality, but will give you an idea about the tank. I'll take a better video with a real camera when I get a chance. If you look really close at the back of the tank there are about 50+ yellow calvus fry that have made it to almost 1/2" in the tank. They find shelter in the plants and are doing very well without any special care or feeding. Thanks for looking!

Thanks man. I'm really enjoying not keeping Petros in there. Don't get me wrong, Petros are cool, but seeing all the interesting nesting behavior of the foai wins out IMO. Plus, I can take a vacation without wondering how many beat up fish ill come home to lol!

In addition, the ability to have a variety of tank mates like the cyps and Calvus, and the be able to spawn them all in the same tank is great to watch. Hoping to thin out a few extra foai males and add a small group of bethos to really complete the tank. I have a group of trophs that are coming in that will take over the 125 in my garage. Taking a break from Petros for a bit

Foai are what really got me into tangs. I was into them before, but I had a 60 gal with a frontosa, 3 tropheus, a juli and one poor ventralis. After seeing foai I jumped to a 125 gal and started my first real tanganyikan setup with just a large group of ruziba furcifer, and cyps. After that...it was all over for me lol. Became a true tang fish nerd. This was probably 15 years ago when dubosi.com and cichlid-forum were the only ones out there. I don't even think I had an email addy back then.

They are from kachese. Micros are kavala, and the Calvus are yellow from nkamba bay. Also some adult L144s in there. The dominate males are probably between 6-7" at this point

Nice size foai. I have some that are about 4" - magara. Can't wait till they get some size on them. What do you feed your Kachese? Have they breed for you?
