Its just a dance.

Earlier = More but more fragile.
Later = Less but more sturdy.

Waiting until say 25 days is a bit much and the numbers will be low.
4-5 days, you may experience high numbers of egg loss.
and the numbers will be the same because only th strong will have survived in both scenarios.


I shoot for the middle. 11-18 days. Depending on my work schedule.

Sometimes they dont even need tumbling....just a breeder box with a little flow.

But if they do need tumbling, it will only be for about a week but can go longer.

Hope this helps.

Just experiment. I know that it seems critical at first...but if your keeping your colony right...you will have lots of chances to practice.
