Default Tropheus Duboisi "Halembe"

Visited a LFS the other day, they look to be downsizing, and I saw these Tropheus Duboisi "Halembe" - so I bought 6 of them. They had the parents there and they looked very nice.

First time I ever had Dubs, my plan is to grow them out a bit in a 65 gallon tank I had already set up. I'm in the process of of acquiring either a 135 or 180 tank, and put them in with my Bemba's, and maybe add some Petros to the mix.

Posted a few pics in the gallery in case anyone wants to see.

Hello to all,

The Tropheus duboisi Halembe is very similar to the Tropheus duboisi Maswa!. Congratulation saji, for your new Tropheus!.

Best regards,

The Bemba's are currently housed in a 90 - although I just committed to getting a 125 gallon tank, couldn't pass it up!

Nice catch. "Halembes" are a lot harder to get a hold of here in the north. "Maswas" are very common though.

Duboisi "Kigoma" just came available on my local suppliers list; don't see them often either.

Congrats on the new fish and the new tank! Just want to offer you a friendly warning though. Your bembas and dubs may try to crossbreed. I kept some maswas with ikolas before and they did the nasty. Lol. Even though bembas' bands are orange or red, they still look close enough in appearance to a duboisi that they might look like suitable mates to each other. However, I have also seen them kept with sp. black with no problems. Good Luck!
