Default Issue with Small colony

Need some advice in relation to the tropheus i have.

I purchased 25 Chaitika and 25 Kalambo but had issues with bloat in the Kalambo group and lost about 15 of them. Due to aggression i combined both lots together into a 125g.

The Chaitika is the dominant colony and have been breeding well but i was wanting to seperate out the Kalambo to give them a chance to breed. The colony consists of 2m 8f and wanted to know what will be the best approach to minimise aggression so that they dont end up killing each other.

Thanks in advance.

In my experience, smaller groups do better in smaller spaces. Try putting them in a 40 gallon breeder tank if you can. Let them get established in a bare tank, then you can try a pot or two in there to give them a space to breed

+1 Totally agree. A 40g or 55g at the largest. If a 55g, add some dither fish like juliodichromis.
