Default Stocking question (controlling aggression)

Was wondering if anyone had some insight for me on this topic. What is better for controlling aggression, or for that matter promoting spawning? Keeping a larger colony of a specific species variant, or keeping two equally large colonies of 2 different tropheus species, i.e. a group of a moorii variant with a group of sp. black? I would try to have close to the same ratio male to female with both groups. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you!

Large colony of a sp only tank worked for me of at least 24 .Lot's of trophs for one to concentrate on one to be bullied.Breeding will come with tender loving care..

My ilangi colony was successful with only 20. Spawned regularly with minimal aggression.
