Default Keeping a population in check?

I wasn't sure which sub forum to post this as it could go under a few categories.

I'm setting up a 125 Gallon Tropheus tank - going to be mixing two species that will most likely crossbreed. I don't want to keep/deal with fry and I don't want the population to explode from 30-40 to twice that amount. The rock I will be using will help fry survive as it has lots of nooks and small caves.

With that in mind would a small group of Synodontis lucipinnis be useful to keep the population in check? Or maybe some other type of fish that will take care of the fry?

You could try adding some Calvus or Compressiceps to help keep the population down.
