Just set mine up with white sugar sand for RR Kasanga and it looks very vivid, especially at night with the lights on, it glows.

OH YES, i should clarify, I am only a newbie to trophs - i have been keeping fish as an obbsession for over 15 years, I currently keep wild fronts, angels, blood parots, and crystal red shrimp. and yes, this specific tank has been cycled and running for quite some time. BUT i know that some fish fade, darken, brighten, etc with different colours of substrate, lighting etc.

so white sand eh? that wont fade them? cause white sand is what i want.......

Take a look at my post a couple of days (wild caught RR Kasangas) ago with the pics, I have white sand, and think it blends well with the RR's.

White sand or crushed coral or aragonite to buffer the PH and blue back round.
I always have some Anubias with them..
