Hi guys, I’ve just wanted to share with you a video with my first breeding of Variabilichromis morri.
fishes are WC and sharing the tank with a group of WC Lufubu and Red Bishops, all fishes coming from Greg. I have them all slightly above 1 year and it was the first successful attempt. Sorry for a poor quality of the video but it was taken on my ipad, I hope you could see those hundreds of small variabilichromis….I’m just afraid that not so many will survive in a tank full of all the time hungry tropheus ..... Thx for sharin mate. Set up looks great. Are you gonna leave the VM fry in the tank or siphon them off and grow them out?
Really nice Lufubu ![]() ![]() |

Awesome! NIce work! Any idea how many they produced? Maybe a rough estimate?

I would rather leave them in a main tank..above this the video is from sunday and since then i'm out of home...flying back tommorrow so will see maybe i'll siphone some...but during the first 3 days VM have been quite efficient in protecting the area

Congrats. Beautiful fish you have there. Nice set up, are those real stone or manufactured?

Julidochromis marileri kalambo...extremely efficient parents...each few months stragling trying to cach the young ones...each time there is 30+.....currently i would say that there are at least 50... From really tiny ones up to 1+in ...and all of it just from one pair

All stones and plants real....just the the "root" being the variabilichromis nest is artificial

Nice. I've seen videos on YT of them in the lake and they were everywhere in the region! Very prolific fish it seems. I myself would probably siphon them out. I let Neo. Leleupi spawn and raise a group of fry to about 1" in a 4ft x 2ft 110g and they did very well protecting them. But they had a corner and a very large rock to work with for covering. |
