Default Tropheus and Ocellatus

I am debating getting some occies and putting them with my Lufubu in a 90g. Has anyone mixed these guys together or think it will work? Let me know what u guys think.

I'd recommend against it as it's pretty hard to make sure the shellies get fed enough; trophs devour everything before they get a chance.

I threw in 5 black ocellatus in with my moorrii zongwe as I needed the 90 gallon they were in. They get along just fine but I have to spot feed them with a dropper to make sure they get fed. It's actually funny as they all swarm around my hand and dropper when I feed them. If it doesn't come quick enough they'll even bite my hand.

It's perfectly fine if your in a pinch, might get annoying in the long term. I guess you could add feed close to a powerhead to disperse the food but I don't do that because I'd like to keep food out of my canisters.

I think it is a bad idea. They will normally eat young given half a chance.

How many Ocellatus? Which varient? Occies are harem spawners, not colonial like Multies - and they'll probably want to claim a larger territory than Multies.

Once they establish their territory, they basically hang around their small group of 2 or 3 shells. If their breeding, they'll be more aggressive.

I've done occelatus with my trophs before don't underestimate them their tough little guys. Once they find a suitable shell they don't move far from it. As far getting enough food they'll get in the mix if hungry and i found mine would eat pretty much everything. They even bred some fry survived some got eaten but all in all i liked the mix.

might work for a while but you're bound to have problems.. trophs drive shellies insane, eat all the food, and shellies get realllllly feisty with the trophs especially when breeding.
