Josiah, my name is Vernalyn (Verna). Nice to meet you.

Tell me honestly, is $300 enough to get 20 or so F1 fish? I think I have patience to grow out fry. But juvs would be a more instant troph fix! My mind keeps going to the RR Kasanga. Not sure I can afford Ilangi or Lufubu.

Yeah that's enough. With $300 max budget that leaves about $250 for 20 fry. That's $12.50 each. That's plenty man. Most F1 go for around $12 from members and sometimes you can find them for $10 each.

I'll see if I can cough up another little bit to get a few more (for the odds). Do Ilangi and Lufubu cost about the same as RR Kasanga?

They should all be around the same. But then it comes down to the "real" yellow Ilangi which might fetch a pretty penny for F1. But 10-12 bucks a pop is reasonable.

If you are willing to look at other types, there is someone here in Seattle who has some Kasakalawe (Moops) fry for sale, and he might have some Dubosi Masawa as well. I just sold off my remaining Ikola fry, but will have more in the near future. Send me a PM if you are interested, I know someone who might have young adult groups of all three types you are looking for.

I do appreciate your advice. I did notice theses fish over the last few months while my tank was cycling. Considering that the 75 (in reality) will be my last tank, I really want to put my heart's desire in it. That would be Lufubu, RR, or Ilangi. Husband likes Lufubu best. I vacillate between them all. Even my 2 moliro tempt me to consider going that route. I guess it is the reds and purples that we like, with a little yellow. I am a patient person too (more so than my husband ). Hopefully, I won't have to wait much longer than the 3+ months I've already been waiting tho! As a note, I do like the way the Ikola are coloring up. I've had them for 6 months now. (Don't tell anyone, but all the fish in the 55 came from a LFS - but, they certainly have wetted my appetite for trophs!!!!)

Yes, I have some of those myself. Since I got a few trophs at the _ _ _ (dirty word), I haven't hardly given them a look! Can't wait to get a colony of trophs in the 75.
