quite a well timed post as i recently set up my lupota on their own ( had a tang com tank before), now their in their own 6foot tank they are producing regular fry, I'm about to harvest the fry (remove from main tank) for growing on and selling/swapping.

I was thinking 1-2" was a good size with bigger being better, i feed mine nls 1mm but when i ist notice them in the tank i feed ground nls for the 1st 2 weeks

To add closure to this - ended up losing all of them. Since then I have purchased 15 Bemba, at 1.5" which all seem to be doing well.

I am considering it a lesson learned - and will not buy them that small again, not saying it cannot be done, but I am not willing to take that risk.

Default young trophs

i bought 15 duboisi and 11 moliro at 1 to 1.5 inch and had no problem, all i was making sure was the water was right and filteration was good.
i know alot of people might not agree with what i am going to say but i brought them up in an undergravel filter on a juwel rio 180 3ft tank and had no problems at all. they were feeding nicely from the hand and sizing up nicely. i mad sure my nitrate was really low for the little fellows.
i currently use a fx5 on a 5ft tank and my nitrate is little higher than my undergravel filter has ever been.
my trophs are now 2 to 3 inch in size and still feeding out of my hand and i need to watch my fingers lol

His fish were 1/2" to 3/4" when he got them. I lost fry when I bought them that small too. 9 of 20 died. Should have put them in a grow out tank instead of the 120.

Keeping them in a 2 1/2 gallon container is not helping either, The aggression is their even at this size. Way too small of a tank. I would keep them in at least a 2 - 3 ft tank for a grow out. Just my opinion.
