Thanks both of you.
![]() It is good to see that there are no doubts about what they are. I mean they are not red bishop. They are exactly something else... I gave all normal adults that are brothers and sisters of sunsets to my friend. I still do have 25 normal babies, they are only 1-1.5" . But i still have a pic. of a good male. Let me show you his pic. These two fish borned from same mother even at same time. ![]() ![]() |

That is an amazing male, but it isn't pure correct? Nice how that band came out since it was a Bulu father and Bemba momma.

Yes actually he is not pure.
Actually there is black point on his band. It's hard to see with this photo but he has a very very small black point on his band. Also that point is larger than this on the other side of fish. I think this is effect of a bulu point father. |

If you take that fish...and splash some black up through that stripe...it would look like the father.
Now...If that dirty blob of black...just so happened to land in a certain way....I think it could come out very bulu point looking. The father just looks like a really dirty petshop bemba. I mean...if they can occasionally pop up mutant...they certainly could pop up with some variegation or discoloration. These things aren't poured into a mold! Just do a google image search of Tropheus Bemba. Go head. Do it. Ill wait here. ![]() OK.....you back? Word. NOw as you scrolled down... Im sure you noticed clean bembas...dirty bembas....Bembas with the stripe through the dorsal....bebmabs with out stripes through the dorsal and even bemabs that had just a mix mash of stripe that kinda did and didn't go through the dorsal. Im sticking with Bemba. Especially after seeing his normal offspring. And you should get back all those normal females. And get some more tanks! And it doesn't matter if your bembas were originally dirty....you cant see it through their genetically mutated cloak of yellow anyway. ![]() Nice bembas...and new and unique mutation. Congrats. did you buy them as Bembas?
And they came from the same pet shop and were bought at the same time? well I would think that means mom and dad are sibs because they both have to be carriers of the mutant gene. I'm sticking with Bemba. |

Well, i bought them as bemba at same time from a petshop 4 years ago. They were even in same aquarium. But that aquarium was including bulu points too. I just wanted to have bembas and i was given bembas. But after he grew, i realized that he might be a bulu. Because a mixing thing can be possible with 1" baby.
I know about diversity of bemba. And you can be right about it. But as i said, i suspected from a mixing case. But also, if these yellows came out, mom and father needs to have this recessive gene both. And i know it is more logical if they are both bembas and also it is more possible than bemba & bulu. Because as you thought, if they are brother and sisters, this can help to occur a recessive gene. So there are two options. Bemba idea's possiblity is more. And i know that. But I just don' know what to say. Confused... Confused... This situation is sick actually. ![]() |

Updates?
And I read your last response. I would be blown away if a bemba and a unrelated bulu point both carried the same locking receive mutated gene. I believe them to be brother and sister from either the very same mouthfull... Or something that could have happened... they could have the same father fish...but difernt mother fish. And one could have a bemba mom. and the other could have a bulu mom. So one look pure and one looks mixed...yet they share a father thus both are carriers. That might be whats going on.... However...it matters little, as i dont believe there is a morphs like that for either...so it could not have come from a previously discovered morph. I beliieve it to be a first. Updates my freind? |

Thanks. I apologize for being late. I did not go further by research. I keep them and i am trying to produce them. Your idea is definitely more logical. For a situation like this, mother and father both need to have same recessive gene. And if we say one of them bemba and one of them bulu point, this makes the possibility almost zero. As you said, they must be relatives with each other. Also they can have same mother and different father, or the opposite. For update, the bemba mother and one female sunset had babies a few days ago. The bemba mother got 28 babies, although she mated with the black father, babies ratio is very good, 12 sunset and 14 normal bemba.( Normally %25 sunset) And another one, female sunset, mated with his father and got only 5 babies. They are a bit smaller. So i can't say the exact ratio of them. I got a photo, let me share it with you. ![]() |
