Thanks. yeah I saw a really nice group of ilangi here in Michigan once and they all had a nice sunspot as these do but it was more yellow. but they were in a lower lit tank in a basement full of tanks. but they were very uniform. Red dorsal and anal fins, jade green upper dorsum, burgundy heads with some blue on the mouth and throat and some lighter colors on the belly. Just Awesome looking! It seems rare to see such a uniform Ilangi colony these days.

Yep. Mups they are. Mpulungu.

It's actually pronounced (Em-pah-lung-ew)... but a lot of people call them (mah-pah-lung-oo). Hence Mups. Not sure how Moops started though. Probably just a mix up in pronunciation that stuck.

Either way, very cool fish.

Noticed today that I finally a few females holding. So it shouldn't be long until I have fry available.
