Default Tropheus moorii Moliro

I have 12 Moorii Moliro and all of them except one look alike. Most are either dark or have vertical bands. All about the same general size juvenile give or take a few millimeter.

Here are a couple of images. Most look like the one just below.

This is what most of the Moliro look like in my aquarium, some are a bit darker.

This is the different one. The front of his body has no bands and is almost black. Could this be a different species? Or is it just normal for the fish to vary greatly in patterns and coloration?

Thanks

I hope they are. I paid $120 for these guys!!

They are all about 1 inch or so if that helps. It's hard to get a decent photo of these fish, they are constantly swimming back and forth or up and down.

These fish are such a trip. One moment they are dark and the next they are all lit up and showing off the vertical bands.

I do trust my suppler aka LFS. The sign said they were Tropheus moorii Moliro. Although I do question one fish not the whole batch. Even so my LFS is really good with customers. They always tell me if I don't want any fish I could take them back for store credit. That's hard to say for most LFS.

Moliro are Species red.... Not sure why they labelled them as Moorii.... And at this point I only see a little red on them in the second Picture. They seem to have quite a bit black though.

I've breed and raised Chimba and they never looked like this at any stage even when dark. They always started out looking more grey and developed the bright red over time. But never dark.

Here are some of the Sp. Red Chimba Fry that my Colony was producing.

I'll try and take some better photos of the fish. Hopefully you guys could help me figure out what I have in my tank.

First and foremost.... Sorry if they are not Moliro. But they may turn out nice either way.

I'm seeing a little Orange or Red in the flanks in a wider area. My guess at this point would be either Pemba or Bulu Point.

I haven't breed or raised any Pemba yet but I have a Beautiful WC Colony of Bulu Point that I got from LAA in 2013 and have raised some fry out to about 2" and there's a similarity to yours...

Time will tell though what you have.

That last one looks like a Pemba fry. I keep them. What LFS did you get them from?

Here are a few more very bad images of some of my fish. As you may notice these fish are constantly changing in coloration, they go from dark to light in an instant.
