View Full Version : Will a female pick up eggs again (after stripping) ?

I am fairly new to the world of petros. As a matter of fact it has only been 16 months that I have been keeping petros.
My question here is:
If you have stripped a female and the fry are still eggs can you leave her in say an isolated tank with the eggs ...
will she pick them back up and care for them ?

Simple answer is no.

I have never seen it happen in my tanks but you never know. You might get lucky. More likely they will fungus. Best bet is to tumble them now.

I agree. Never seen this done with eggs.

I have seen like done with 2 week old fry (half fry/half eggs) but never when they are just eggs.

You can still tumble them. Just jack up the flow and they will not go bad.

This did not happen to me yet.... but just wanted to know in advance....

I agree with the others, but this happened to me once out of maybe 15 spawns (not good odds to occur) to find out the mother just ate them instead the next day.

Let them hold if your petros spawn, my luck has been bad when I tumble..
