:ac15: Welllllll Folks, Brian has been teasing me with his Trew's In fact, he has been downright mean and tantlizing me.. :killingme:

Sigh... My wife and I made the odd 100 some mile trip tonight with nasty thunderstorms all around us.. Nasty looking dark clouds with wind... While we were at Brian's, the storm hit and lights flickered... Not a good thing..

We pulled what we thought was going to be 12 Trew's and lo -- There were 13 of which he threw in.. Put into a Tote as these guys were pretty good size.. 3 to 5 inches..

He also threw some extra Red Rainbow Fry... Which also went into the 135 gallon tank that the Trews along with Ikola and Red Rainbows are in.. They are doing awesome and am trying to post pictures now.. So we shall see what happens... :)

Thank you Brian for exceeding my expectations.. and Best wishes on all of your wigglers!!

Bill :)

Nice looking Trews, Bill.
I trust you got the family discount.

Thank you all for the compliments... :)

They have settled in and are awaiting their first feeding....

Noddy, I think the baker dozen discount applied... in addition to the family discount....Brian was very fair with me. I am on his list for some Ilangi fry too.. :)

Man to go from raising fry to adults to getting some cows.. Its different in a way... I keep forgetting that raising fry to adults (which is what I almost always do) is so much more a day to day watching and not thinking your seeing any progress....

Its probably like the people who get a vietnamese Pot Belly Pig at birth and then seeing the thing 5 years later and 300 lbs more.. But then pick up the 800 lb regular pig at the fair and wonder how your going to get it home...

Again Thank you all for your compliments

Wellllllll We are not by the blood lines... :roflmao:

But

by the Ohions lines we are...... Noddy is jealous because of all of us Ohion boys.. That makes you, Brian, Chad (T-Position) and myself as well as Mark (Kram) Phil (Phypes) Jaffo and I am sure I have missed a ton... We are maybe next to the Texan yokels maybe the next largest state group??

Cool fish Bill  I knew the petros are bigger, but dang they are big. They make your trophs look like babies. I dont know much about petros at all, but from what i read they arent agressive towards trophs. Is this a true statement. I need a bigger tank. :banghead: In due time in due time. Congrats on the new additions Bill, I know your stoked about them.

P.S. Hey Russ do you have a generator on stby? Im going to get me one from the Navy Exchange at the end of summer, up here in the NW, wind storms during the winter knocks out pwr like its cool. I had some cool malawi fish, but during a storm the pwr was out for 3 and 1/2 days. All but one fish died. I had this fish since i lived in the barracks. He pulled through. Water was like in the 50's. He was pale as a ghost and was floating upside down(disorientated) state. I have him till this day. Its a beautiful 4 and 1/2" Demanosi 4 yrs old.

Update..............Brian does not wear a T shirt... Has Tats... Shorts and the Trews think of him as Dad... Brian is about 5'11" and short hair... He is kinda skinny and runnty...

I, on the other hand.. Have shrunk from 5'11" to about 5'9". I am round... Wear t shirts and would not be caught dead without one on.. Sigh......

The trews are sulking in the rocks... swimming only when I am not around... Maybe its the deoderant??

They are doing well other than for being shy...

Thank you all for your compliments!!

This is the first time I felt I had something worthwhile to take pictures of... I am enjoying the learning process of picture taking from Mike....

The Trew's males of which there appear to be 4 or 5 are really shy.. The females are so much more gregarious... Some of the males just are so skittish which is to be expected as I am not Brian...(Much more rounder and he is much more runtier) The males may like runntier people and not round ones.. Time will tell if I can get them over their fetish of skinny people.

Now if I can get some better lighting for picture taking...

Bill :)

How do you tell the males and females apart? I thought the eggspots were the sign of males. I'm trying to figure out what I have.

my 19 trews live by themselves in a 125 and i got them at a pretty small size...1"-1.75". they've been a little skittish since i got them but have really loosened up as the have grown. my famulas however, who live with the bembas are far from shy and make it their goal to splash me at feeding time. makes me wonder if the trews would loosen up a little quicker if i had some outgoing tankmates for them. kinda torn about what i wanna do with that. trews are pretty happy to see me but not crazy about more than one person hanging around. i think trophs, petros, simos and many other species of fish for that matter, recognize their owner over other people.

Shawn... You are so very right.... When I go over to Brian's place to pick up the fish and look at his new purchases... That Longolia that you see in Brian's picture does not look like that at all when I am around..

My Ikola's and Red Rainbows come running when I stand up after playing a game of scrabble or dinner in our dinning room table where the 135 gallon home is. They know the spot where I am going to put the food and hover there. Just recently in the last half day the Trew's are starting to come over to investigate what the hoopla is. they know who their owner is!

makes me wonder if the trews would loosen up a little quicker if i had some outgoing tankmates for them

The Trew's in Brian's tank had different tankmates from the Longolias, to Red Rainbows and others.. I think it does make a difference also that Brian had little kids and a huge huge Great Dane running around...I also think that its dither type fish thing... I have two gold barbs in my 55 gallon downstairs with the 6 Dubbys and 6 Red Ndoles and I did this as to keep the aggression and distraction down as well as to keep them from being skittish.. and it most certainly worked.

Your observations are quite on the mark...

Bill :)
