I hope you like the guys. :) They've created a little miracle - I've got only two of them and I'm keeping them 2,5 years already. I was not even sure if they are male and female - initialy they were sold to me by a trader who formed a group for himself and there were four fish as "leftover". He somehow managed to kill all of his fish except one male. Meanwhile my largest male killed two of the other fish (obviously males) paying no attention to the smallest one. I was patient - I've kept them with my Trophs and finaly it happened - few weeks ago while stripping a female troph, I decided to "check" the smaller petro and here is what I've found out she was hiding in her mouth:

Now I have four of these fat little guys. :)

I've got a question for you. I've met this particular morph of Petrochromis famula as Kapampa, Moliro, Chimba, Katete and Kaiser (the last one is just a trade name I suppose). Do you think they are the same at the different collection points? Because I'm not sure where mine had come from - I decided to call them Moliro but this is just because I like it best. :)

Man, I have NO IDEA how to tell the difference between the famula variants. Mine were sold to me as Famula Chimba. They look similar to yours (obviously), but the stripes are more defined. Check out mine here: http://trophs.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3105
Lots of vids to look at.

Thanks for your input peterp63! :)

Just to add some confusion...:)
The stripes of my male are exactly the same as those on your pictures. :) These photos (mine) were taken during a breeding "dance" of the male when he turns much whiter than normal. In normal condition it is not possible to make difference between him and some of your Chimbas:

You can see how mine looked two years ago here:

So my petros could easily be Chimba as well. I tried to push the trader who imported them several times to try to remember what is the exact collection point but all I get from him is Kaiser every time. :(

Kaiser is another trade name for Famula Bluefin...not help with your problem but it is an appropriate designation for the fish I believe.
